WU
This is the vowel "wu". It has approximately the same sound as the "oo" in the English word "boot." It is written with a long, horizontal stroke, followed by a fairly long vertical stroke. Note that this is the vowel "u" with an additional vertical stroke coming off the bottom. Contrast this with the vowel "o" which has the vertical stroke coming off the top.
